College=Carnival?

Today was a relatively random day with many random events, however two highlights stand out in my mind.

However, the highlight of the day was the CIS (Computing Information Services) block party on the quad that I went to during my "study break" after my international politics class and before doing any more reading. They had informational booths and free snowcones, popcorn, fried dough, pizza, pretzels, and cotton candy...and I [shamefully] took part in 3 of these delicacies. Enclosed are action shots of me enjoying my snowcone.

This second event follows my first highlight very closely. Today is also the beginning of Rosh Hashanah, commonly referred to as "Jewish New Year." About 25% of all the students at Vassar are Jewish, and 4 out of the 11 people in my fellow group are of jewish ancestry. We celebrated tonight by eating honey cake (delicious) which my friend Sarah's mom sent her, as well as traditional apples and honey. The honey represents a hopefully "sweet" year and the roundness of the apples represent the world, and the new year.

  1. That snow cone look mighty yummy. Sounds as though you are learning both in and out of school. Have a good evening!
