The rest of the day, I watched football, played Clue with David's little cousins, and helped prepare the thanksgiving dinner. David's grandparents' house was so beautiful, and I was very grateful to have my own room and bathroom for the first time in a while!
I stuffed myself for thanksgiving (and rediscovered my love of brie...I know, weird) and went to bed relatively early in order to wake up the next morning fairly early to head into New York City.
On Friday, David and I dropped our stuff off at David's grandparents' swanky park avenue apartment and then headed off on our excursion to the Metropolitan Museum of Art, which is in within walking distance of the apartment. I saw lots of neat things including Monet's Water Lillies, Van Gogh's Self Portrait/Sunflowers, and lots of old egyptian artifacts! After having a late taco lunch we hung around and watched movies, and then headed out again for some delicious italian food.
On Saturday, we got a relatively late start, but went on our Central Park excursion to find Balto. While it took much longer than it should of, I fought some kids off the balto statue to take a picture. The rest of the day was spent watching TV, getting some equally delicious indian food for a late dinner.
On Sunday, I spent my day alone wandering the streets of Time Square doing my christmas shopping. I stumbled upon this Christmas Festival including shop, ice skating, and musical performances in Bryant Park, which is right by the New York Public Library. I came back to Vassar around 7pm and finished some homework I had avoided the whole weekend, all and all, a wonderful trip to the city!
My pictures include David chasing his little cousin at his grandparents' house, a portrait of Gertrude Stein at Bryant Park, the view from the apartment, some stuff at the Met, and my meeting with Balto!
Thank goodness you found Balto. I didn't know he made his way so far south.

Love your thanksgiving! Huck has a terrible book about balto that he loves me to read.
ReplyDeleteBalto in New York!! That, in itself, is remarkable. I'm so glad you found him.
