Highlight of my Vassar Experience

While yesterday was very stressful and it involved waking up far too early for an 8:45am eye doctor's appointment, pouring over handwritten (and barely legible) charter documents of Vassar College from 1861, and using every extra second of free time (barely any) to study for my Econ test today...there was one shining moment.

Yesterday, I attended a reading/lecture by one of my FAVORITE authors, Jonathan Safran Foer. He's pretty new on the writing scene, and has written three main works including Everything Is Illuminated, Exremely Loud and Incredibly Close, and Eating Animal. Everything is Illuminated is such a life changing book (they've made it into a movie, but I have refused to see it...) and I was very excited to hear him speak.

He was just as I imagined him to be, very funny, sarcastic, and gave very thoughtful, genuine answers. And I also got him to sign my copy of Everything is Illuminated (that my wonderful mother sent me just in time...)

So my picture today is of one of my newest, most fondest possesions (and I'm wearing the new shirt that my mom bought for me...thanks!)

  1. I love Everything in Illuminated, but I haven't read the others. Maybe I will have to pick them up for my Mexico Thanksgiving trip.

  2. This is the kind of thing that makes college worthwhile--the autograph and opportunity to see a famous author up close and personal! Very cool!
