Almost Friday

Not too much excitement to report besides my trials and tribulations of surviving without my cell phone...here's hoping that it comes in before my trip tomorrow.

Last night I went to a lecture sponsored by the History and Political Science departments that brought Shirley Sherrod to campus to speak about race relations and civil rights. Sherrod was involved in a scandal this past summer (that was kind of hard to miss as it was on the news constantly) involving statements made at a NAACP luncheon that were later misconstrued leading to her forced resignation from her job at Georgia's department of Agriculture.

This week has been kind of stressful with lots of reading/meetings/appointments, but I'm still excited for my weekend's trip to Boston!

I also have received two issues of Alaska Magazine that was my birthday gift from the Kellers, besides the occasional odd advertisement for interesting knife replicas, it's actually really great to read!

  1. Boston should be fun! I loved the cobblestone streets and (this is weird) spent lots of off time during one conference visiting graveyards with a cemetery-obsessed friend. It was amazing.
