Sorry for not posting this weekend, I got back from my debate tournament super tired/hungry.
The debate tournament at Swarthmore was fun, my partner and I only won 2 out of our 5 debate rounds, but I also ranked 1st or 2nd speaker in four or my debates, which I think is a pretty good start.
The worst part of the tournament was definitely the drive, it took a little over four hours each way, which was just really tiring. I was also serving as a navigator/GPS interpretor, which was a tad confusing at times.
However, I did get to see lots of cool sights, including deer, hot air baloons, and quaker houses. Swarthmore College is also very pretty, it's about 30 minutes from Philadelphia, so we never went into the actual city, but the area surrounding is very nice.
The kids on the debate team are all very nice, and I even met some nice debaters from Bryn Mawr, Fordham University, and West Point; who are all coming to the Vassar tournament in 2 weeks.
It felt so good to debate again, and it was so nice being able to see other parts of the east coast (expense free!)
Included are some pictures of my team as well as some odd sites at Swarthmore.
Way to adventure and explore, love the pic of you and the chicken.
ReplyDeleteI've been checking your blog all day waiting to hear about your trip and how you fared with college debating. Both sound like great fun and first/second in your debates is amazing for a freshman. Wowser!
