Wednesday's Review of Classes

Yesterday, I woke up early(ish) and went to breakfast, and continued to pick up my books, and then continued on to class.

My first class was my 11am Intermediate Spanish class, which I have been dreading for a while. The dread is mostly based on the fact that while I took three years of spanish in high school, only about 1.5 years was legitimate and the rest was watching movies. However, while I was certainly not the best spanish speaker in the class, I defintely wasn't at the bottom of the barrel either. I really liked the teacher, and while the homework was tricky, I think it'll get easier once I'm used to speaking spanish on a regular basis. The only issue is that I'm still not sure if I'm in the class yet. I'm 3rd on the waitlist and he seemed to be saying that he didn't want to take anyone that was on the waitlist, but I think that a least a few are switching to another section, so I think I might be in luck.

My second class was my 1:30 History of U.S. foreign relations. I'm really excited for this class as well. I've heard great things about the professor, and the subject matter (including the books that we will be reading) sounds really interesting! It's a 200 level course, so the work load is definitely a step up from my last history class.

The rest of the day was spent reading/conjugating, later on I went to meet some friends for Smoothies, but I was sooo tired that I came back to my room early and fell asleep at 10.

When I went to pick up my books, I also had my new issue of Alaska magazine in my mailbox, made me miss home!

  1. Don is here and brought me the Alaska Magazine, too. So I know how you feel. Good luck with the Spanish class! Enjoy!

  2. Intermediate Spanish was my worst grade in all of college. Ugh. I'm sure that you will do much better than myself (fingers crossed that you get into the class!)

  3. I'll vouch for Lani's comments. I went with her to a college Spanish class. I was impressed that the prof used puppets and other enticements to teach, but it still was tough.
