Yesterday I spent a bit of my early afternoon baking Mexican wedding cookies (or Russian tea cakes, depending on your heritage preference.) While I think I messed up the recipe a bit by putting 3/8 tablespoon of salt as opposed to a teaspoon, I think they turned out okay. I made 2.5 batches, and wish I would have made the earlier cookies smaller as some of them were pretty gigantic compared to the smaller ones I later made.
So I went around yesterday delivering them to my hall mates/some of my friends in the other dorms, and got pretty enthusiastic reponses, I think people are just needy for some nicety during finals week.
I also was able to borrow a lot of things; bowls, mixing cups, mixing spoons, stirring spoons, vanilla, etc. from friends so that I only had to buy a couple cheap disposable cookie sheets.
Yum! I wish you would have been in my college dorm!
