Blog attempt: Part 2

While I was trying to blog about the past day, and hurricane prep, it automatically published the title without any blogging, so that explains the short blog post a second ago that I find too amusing to delete (nor no I remember how to delete.)

Yesterday went pretty well, it was my freshmen's first full day of orientation and we had breakfast together, and they had meetings, and then I walked two of them to places they needed to go for job interviews. We then took a tour of campus and then they went to more meetings and we had dinner with another fellow group and after this we went to hang out by the lake. I can tell my freshmen are just now getting comfortable with eachother to want to meet other people in their dorm, and it's great!

We then went to another presentation about diversity at Vassar and had a really great discussion afterward where I got to know my kids a lot more. There was then an emergency meeting about hurricane preparations which consisted of me telling my kids to pack go-bags, as well as trying to figure out what to do with 60 freshmen (+upperclassmen) who are stuck in our dorm ALL day. Bonding time?

The pic today is of the door signs I made for my freshmen. Every student fellow could pick a theme for their group, and I picked obscure simpsons characters, and luckily my freshmen were amused as opposed to being offended.

  1. Meg,

I'm so glad you explained the short blog. It would have freaked me out. "The hurricane is comin'" and then . . . . Nothing. Yikes! (How DO you know so many obscure Simpson characters AND is that a good thing.)
