The debate tournament at Fordham was a lot of fun. My partner and I did fairly well (we won 3 out of our 5 rounds), and we were paired against the top debate team in the country from Harvard and while we obviously lost, we definitely didn't embarrass ourselves, and I got the same amount of speaking points as the second best debater in the country...not bad.
We ended up walking 20 blocks in the Bronx at 3 in the morning because our hosts told us that we shouldn't take a cab to walk back because 1.) Yellow cabs don't go to the Bronx because they get robbed and shot, 2.) The black cabs are not licensed and will gouge you and then abduct you when you refuse not to pay.So....not cabs for us; just a brisk walk back to our housing.
I got back fairly early on saturday night and helped my friends bake for their baking co-op and then went to the middle school themed dance, where they had a lot of choice early 2000s music.
Pictures are of 4 of the gentlemen of my team playing a version of chicken in the streets of the bronx, before our hosts yelled at us and told us to stop.
