May Day

It seems that there hasn't been all that much excitement since I've been back at Oxford, it's been nice settling back into routines, getting to see friends, and enjoying the pleasant upswing in weather. My friends and I tried to make up for the relatively chill past week by going to the May Day celebrations at Oxford, beginning Tuesday night and ending at 6 am this morning. We went to a dance club where there was live music, actual grass on the floor (still unsure how they pulled that off), a snake charmer, and supposedly face painting, but I never found this.

I was one of only a few people in our group to make it up all night, which is quite a feat since I really appreciate my sleep. The last men standing met up with those who had abandoned us earlier in the night a bit before 6am to hear the Magdalen College choir sing from the top of the Magdalen tower. It seems like all of Oxford was out on the bridge, and while it was quite cold and tiring near the end, I'm still glad I did it!

Steph, Jack, and I, early in the night.

5:30 in the morning, Magdalen College.

Waiting for the singing.

  1. I'm proud of you for making it through the night and standing tall at the morning singing. Wow! I'm also glad you're doing everything there is to do at Oxford, but . . . we're really missing you in Alaska.

    Take care!
